Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is on the look out for young people to join their Fire Cadets programme at Trowbridge fire station, which will start in September.
The aim of Fire Cadets is to support the development of young people by providing positive role models and giving them opportunities to participate in a wide range of practical activities.
The service is looking to recruit young people between the ages of 13 and 18 to take part in the scheme.
The programme, linked to the National Fire Cadet model, is delivered by firefighters and volunteers, and lasts for 38 weeks within the academic year of 2021/2022.
Weekly sessions will take place every Wednesday evening, from 6pm to 8.30pm at Trowbridge fire station and will involve a mix of practical and classroom-based theory elements alongside community-based social action projects.
Neil Chamberlain, youth intervention coordinator, said: “We welcome applications from anyone aged 13-18 who is keen to learn about the Fire and Rescue Service and wants to develop their personal skills. This will be a great opportunity to take on new challenges, meet new people and gain skills that the Cadets can use in all aspects of life.”
Register interest via email to neil.chamberlain@dwfire.org.uk before next Monday.
