A Westbury-based commercial vehicle dealership is inviting people to join in its latest fundraising event.
Rygor Commercials, on the West Wilts Trading Estate, is staging an online event to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
At 7am on Friday, June 25, members of Team Rygor will be joined by colleagues from the Mercedes-Benz Vans Dealer Network, for an energetic early morning workout.
All monies raised will be donated to Teenage Cancer Trust, to support young people aged 13-24 who are living with cancer.
Tracy Burns, relationship manager South West and Wales for Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “Nothing we do as a charity would be possible without the incredible fundraising efforts of companies like Rygor.
"We can’t thank them enough for their support, because the money they raise will help fund our incredible nurses, and services that support teenagers and young people with cancer through the toughest times imaginable.”
Rygor owner director Paul Reed is passionate about all aspects of his team’s health and has designed a fitness class suitable for all abilities and fitness levels.
He says it will give those taking part a great physical workout and a fantastic sense of personal achievement, in support of a very worthy cause.
Mr Reed added: “Cancer is a devastating illness, no matter what your age.
"Team Rygor is fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust because many of us are parents ourselves, and we feel it is important to support a charity which cares for young people in the most heart breaking of situations.
"The team at Rygor cares passionately about community support, and fundraising is part of our team ethos. If the past year has taught us anything, it is the importance of continuing to care about something bigger than ourselves.
"Through this event and others like it, we have an opportunity to make a difference to others, by raising money for causes close to our hearts.
"We’re really looking forward to having fun, keeping fit and fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust.”
Mr Reed will be joined by Sarah Palfreyman, head of network operations at Mercedes-Benz Vans UK, to put the participants through their paces.
Throughout lockdown, Sarah’s involvement in Rygor’s online fitness classes has been much appreciated by the team.
Sarah Palfreyman said: “I’ve been proud to take part in Rygor’s fundraising through fitness, since we started last year.
"Throughout what has been an emotionally demanding year, fitness is something that has kept me going mentally and physically.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed motivating others to achieve more than they thought possible, improving our fitness levels and keeping our teams together, even when we have been apart.
"I’m delighted to have been asked to take part in the fitness challenge, raising much-needed funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
"It’s such a worthwhile cause and I’m convinced we will smash our fundraising total yet again.”
Since 2014, Team Rygor has raised over £50,000 for various charitable causes through standalone events such as this one, and through its Charities of the Year initiative.
The business also runs a robust wellness programme, with many of its team actively participating in all sorts of fitness challenges, and dedicated support available to promote healthier lifestyle choices.Rygor aims to raise £500 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
