TROWBRIDGE Future is celebrating after being awarded £299,198 in lottery money to continue its work supporting the local community.
The charity will use the cash to 'develop and consolidate sustainable growth' over the next three years.
Meg Aubrey, youth and community manager at Trowbridge Future, said: “We’re delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work.
“Now we will be able to confidently press on with our plans to widen the range of opportunities available to local residents, which creates a sense of inclusion, helping to alleviate social isolation and loneliness.”
Zoe Meaden, manager of Trowbridge Future’s Hub in The Shires shopping centre, added: “It’s fantastic. It’s an absolute game-changer for us and will help to safeguard our activities.”
Head of regional funding for the south west at the National Lottery Community Fund Rowan Miller said: “It’s inspiring to see the difference that community focused, people-led charities are making across Wiltshire and beyond, including projects like Trowbridge Future.
“We’re delighted to support them, thanks to National Lottery players, so they can continue to provide valuable services to vulnerable young people and hope to communities as they navigate these uncertain times.”
The independent charity launched in 1995 and has eight staff and a team of volunteers. It aims to respond to the needs and concerns of localss and young people.
It runs a series of youth cafes across the disadvantaged communities of Trowbridge, Longfield, Seymour and Studley Green and hosts two Community Hubs, one in The Shires and one on the Seymour Estate, providing advice and support to Trowbridge’s most vulnerable residents. It also supports developing the needs and capacity of local neighbourhood and community associations.
The grant will see an increased number of young people reached by Trowbridge Future activities, and more visitors able to use Hub-organised activities.
Mrs Aubrey added: “Key to our continued growth is a team of dependable volunteers and trustees. We're keen to hear from you at info@trowbridgefuture.org.uk.”
