Each week we take a look at of what you are commenting on on our Facebook pages. Two stories provoked quite a response.
Our story that campaigners are organising night-time patrols in the Avoncliff Valley and other parts of west Wiltshire in a bid to stop more than 4,000 badgers being culled got you reacting.
Campaigners are going out in groups in west Wiltshire and north east Somerset trying to disrupt marksmen targeting the animals, which are blamed for the spread of bovine TB.
The night-time patrollers are hoping to disrupt the culling of badgers or to prevent them being trapped in cages and shot the following morning.
Leigh Randell: All the idiots who do who go out to stop this is put there selves and others in danger of being injured. Also with Covid they should not be bloody going out anyway. Like it or not badgers are one of the causes of TB. Badgers have no natural predator in the UK either. Therefore, man needs to step in, other wise they get out of control. And as long as it is done by license holding marks persons like it is it’s very swift. Badger baiting and digging up sets is illegal and barbaric. And any one caught should be charged to the full extent of the law.
Karen Wynte: Badger setts are still protected. They are not even testing the poor animals to see if they have Btb, after they have been killed, how is this going to determine if it’s going to work or not, just blatant cruelty.
Barbara Clarke: If this helps to prevent the spread of TB and unnecessary slaughter of thousands of cattle it has to be done.
Kelly Williams: I remember a time a badger sett was protected! If one was found on a potential building site, they couldn’t build on it! Now they’re killed by the 1000s.
Catherine Cooper: The cull is cruel and totally unnecessary. Millions of pounds of taxpayers money is being wasted on the pointless killing of our badgers. Science has proved culling does not stop the spread of TB! Cows pass the disease to each other!
Patricia Bonella: Totally unnecessary. Beautiful creatures. It has never been proved that it is the badgers who spread TB.The amount I see lying on the side of the road is more than road kill and I think the killing is happening all year round
Mark Powell: Until it can be proved they are spreading TB I am totally against this random killing of badgers. Wildlife is suffering constantly at the hands of humans. Stop!
A story that a dog was deliberately killed in Chippenham horrified you. Police say it had been stabbed with a sharp object.
The dog - a three-year-old Doberman - was found dead near Avenue la Fleche at around 9pm on September 22.
Following examination by the vet, it is believed the dog had in fact been deliberately killed with what is believed to have been some form of sharp object.
Caron Anne Robinson: This is awful how can anyone do this to a animal? I hope karma gets them back soon I feel for the dog’s family how devastating for them the person or persons who have done this awful thing need to be put away and never own a animal. Pure evil.
Denise Barrett: So heartbreaking how could any one do this hope the person is found thoughts are with the owners.
Rachel Raquel: Doing that to a defenceless animal. Showing their true colours!
Linda Watson: My heart goes out to the owners, how awful.
Christina Alder: This is heartbreaking thoughts are with the owners.
Debbie Richards: I like to get hold of the person, it makes me so mad.
Cathy Allgood: There are some very sick people about.
Rebecca Horsley Millard: OMG this is absolutely sick.
I hope the culprit is found ASAP before they do this again.
Gaynor Meehan: What the hell is wrong with people but don’t worry karma will get revenge.
Cherrieann Bodman Barnes: I hope who ever done this wicked act, killing a defenceless animal is found quickly and the court give this person the highest appropriate custodial sentence.
Could be a child next time. Evil sick person
