PEOPLE in Westbury are to be asked for their views on whether the town council should take on services currently provided by Wiltshire Council.
The town’s mayor, Cllr Mike Sutton, has called an extraordinary general meeting on Monday at 6.30pm at the council’s offices at The Laverton.
Attendees will be asked to vote on a recommendation advising Wiltshire Council that Westbury Town Council wishes to begin talks as soon as possible on the potential take over of assets and services such as play areas and grass cutting.
Cllr Sutton said: “In the meantime, the town council requires the delegation of services committee to prepare a list of possible requirements and expectations that the town council might wish to set as red lines in the negotiations.”
Presentations will be made to the council and then to residents before a final decision on whether to proceed with the talks.
