THREE more hauliers have been prosecuted for flouting the 18-tonne weight restriction on the ancient Town Bridge in Bradford on Avon.
Wright Minimix Concrete Pumping Ltd, of Warmley in Bristol, pleaded guilty at Salisbury Court on January 27 and were fined £900 and ordered to pay costs of £500 together with a £90 victim surcharge.
Thomas Silvey Ltd, of Yate, pleaded guilty at Swindon Court on Tuesday February 4 and were fined £550 and ordered to pay costs of £200 and a £55 victim surcharge.
Also on Tuesday, Brit European Transport Ltd, of Crewe, pleaded guilty at Swindon Magistrates Court and were fined £550 and ordered to pay costs of £200 and a £55 victim surcharge.
Wright Minimix Concrete Pumping Ltd had previously pleaded not guilty and the matter was set for trial on January 27 until they changed their plea at the last minute, hence the larger fine and costs.
Lorry Watch volunteer Terry Brown had been called as a witness so had a wasted journey to Salisbury.
