SUPERMARKET giant Asda is hoping to submit a planning application for a store in Melksham next month.
Up to 300 jobs could be created if plans for the store on the Countrywide Farmers site, off the A350, are approved by West Wiltshire District Council.
In a letter to Melksham Town Council, Asda said the consultations how 93 per cent of those responding would welcome its arrival in the town.
If Asda were to be given the go-ahead for the 28,500 sq ft store and 250-space car park, Countryside Farmers would move to another site in the town.
Asda hopes to open the store for trading in 2009.
