Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, who promotes himself as the Black Farmer, was guest speaker at Devizes ChamberLink dinner at the Bear Hotel, Market Place.
Born in Jamaica and brought up in Birmingham, Mr Emmanuel Jones left his secondary school at 16 with no qualifications.
He now farms in Devon, is a frequent presenter on television and is the prospective parliamentary Conservative candidate for the new Chippenham constituency.
His talk drew on his experiences and he answered questions on subjects from farming to politics to television.
