BRADFORD: Christopher Hobgen, of Fitzmaurice Close, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court charged with four counts of shoplifting. On November 30, the 37-year-old stole an electric shaver from Trowbridge Tesco. On December 2 he Hobgen took a £40 bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin from Trowbridge Sainsbury’s. Eight days later he stole an electric toothbrush and hair straighteners, worth £105, from Trowbridge Tesco. On December 18 he stole a £25 bottle of Haig Clubman whiskey from Sainsbury’s, on Brunel Plaza, Swindon. Hobgen indicated a guilty plea to all charges, was jailed for 12 weeks and was charged £145.
MARLBOROUGH: Daniel Cavender, of Purlyn Acre, was found guilty of assaulting a woman by beating her. The 44-year-old initially pleaded not guilty to the charge but was proved to be. He has been remanded on unconditional bail until his sentencing on January 23.
DEVIZES: David Andrew, of Wadworth Road, was caught driving an Audi A3 along New Park Street with an illegal amount of cocaine and THC in his blood. He was also guilty of driving the car without insurance. The 26-year-old was held on unconditional bail until his sentencing on January 7.
TROWBRIDGE: Alan Boydell, of Winter Hill, pleaded guilty to obstructing a police constable from doing her job. He was also guilty of driving a Volkswagen Passat on Hammond Way without insurance or a licence. As well as this he used a fake registration plate. The 25-year-old was given six penalty points and was lumped with a £617 fine.
DEVIZES: Emma Ferris, of Sheep Street, appeared in court charged with harassing a man, and damaging the window of the Three Crowns pub (worth £177) and the Black Swan hotel (worth £231) on August 7. The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to the two counts of vandalism. She initially pleaded not guilty to the harassment charge but was found guilty. She was ordered to undergo an alcohol therapy course as well as being given a £275 fine.
ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Daniel Broom, of Rylands Way, was caught driving a Ford Transit on the M4, near Swindon, without care and attention. The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to careless driving. He was given six penalty point on his licence and was fined £358.
MARLBOROUGH: Patrick Martin, of Garside Way, was caught driving a Ford Focus along the A4 at Beckhampton without insurance. The 28-year-old is disqualified from driving for 15 months and was given a £745 fine.
MALMESBURY: On April 25 Seven Electrical Systems Ltd, based on Cross Hayes, used an unlicensed vehicle for work purposes. This was proved in the firm’s absence on December 17. The electrical company was forced to pay a fine of £959.17 and a collection order was made.
RAMSBURY: William Grant, of High Street, was charged with assaulting another man on September 2, 2018. The 27-year-old pleaded not guilty on April 3 and was found guilty on December 16. Grant was given a fine of £1,596. to pay by January 31.
LYNEHAM: Julian Smith, of Pound Close, pleaded guilty to stealing £59.86 worth of meat from Sainsbury’s, on Brunel Plaza in Swindon, on November 14. A warrant has been put out for the 37-year-old’s arrest.
CORSHAM: On May 31 Nicholas Haynes, from Newark Road, Gloucester, failed to stop after crashing his Volkswagen Golf into a Honda Jazz on the A4. He was charged for that and for careless driving. The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to both, was given five penalty points and was lumped with a £275 fine.
LITTLETON PANNELL: Paul Gould, of no address, damaged items worth around £5,000 in a garage belonging to a woman. The 52-year-old also stole the woman’s phone.. A restraining order was put on him by the woman and he was given a £215 fine.
TROWBRIDGE: On November 9, Stephen Lamplough, of Cockhill, was caught drink driving on Bythesea Road. When breath tested he measured an alcohol reading of 50mcg where the legal limit is 35. The 26-year-old is banned from driving for 38 months and was given a £410 fine.
MARLBOROUGH: Peter Murphy, of London Road, was caught drink driving. The 49-year-old measured 73mcg when breath tested. He’s banned from driving for20 months and was given a £162 fine.
