PEOPLE of Ramsbury watched pupils from the local primary school perform the nativity last week.
Villagers had been invited in October, when Year 6 children from Ramsbury Primary delivered invitations for the nativity alongside food donations received for the school’s harvest festival.
The youngsters dressed up in eye-catching outfits for their version of the Christmas story.
The festive performance, called A Little Bird Told Me, featured all of the Key Stage 1 children at the school.
Year 2 narrated the story, Year 1 acted and the school’s reception pupils joined them on stage for a number of songs to mark the start of Christmas.
Among the audience, were two former Ramsbury Primary heads Mrs Dodds and Mrs Lance who both enjoyed their return to the school and watching the nativity.
Mrs Mayer, who teaches reception at Ramsbury, said: "Everyone loves a nativity, and the children have worked so hard – I’m always so impressed that our children, who have only been in school for a couple of months, have the confidence to stand on stage and sing, and it’s just wonderful that so many members of the local community have come to watch.’
As well as their performance for the village, the younger children will be performing their nativity for two performances for parents. Key Stage 2 children donned their Christmas jumpers and performed in two Christmas carol shows.
A school spokesman added: "Music is central to the curriculum at Ramsbury, with a large number of Key Stage 2 learning instruments in school and participating in the school orchestra, choir and jazz band.
