A 19-year-old man was hit on the head with a bottle during an attempted robbery in Bradford-on-Avon.

The incident happened at 2.30am on Saturday December 21 between Westbury Gardens and Parsons Bakery.

The victim was walking near to the town bridge and Westbury Garden when he was approached by three men who he did not know.

They knocked him to the ground and assaulted him, causing him an injury to his head.

The victim managed to run away but they quickly caught up with him between Parsons Bakery and the town bridge, where they then hit him with a bottle.

Appealing for witnesses, Det Con Hannah Agate of central CID said: “Fortunately, nothing was stolen during the incident but the victim was extremely shaken and suffered a cut to his head which luckily didn’t require any further treatment.

“Although this incident happened at approximately 2.30am, it was a busy weekend with many people out and about celebrating Christmas parties – if you witnessed the incident, please get in touch.

“I believe a vehicle passed the scene at the time of the incident – if this was you, you may be able to help with our investigation.”
