TWO men, who were arrested following an armed raid at a petrol station in Devizes where a broken bottle was used to threaten staff on Saturday, have been released on conditional bail.
The pair aged 18 and 25 were taken to Melksham police station after CCTV pictures of men wanted in connection with the robbery were released.
Police were called to the Esso garage in London Road at about 2.30am on Saturday.
A police spokesman said: “One of the men forced an employee behind the counter to where the tills are located, while the other man removed a neck of a broken glass bottle from his pocket and used it to threaten the shop worker.
“They forced the shop worker to open the tills and they made off with approximately £230 cash, leaving the scene on foot in the direction of Hopton Industrial Estate.
Det Con Simon Rogers, of Central CID, said: “This was no doubt a frightening experience for the shop worker, who, during the incident, had his arm twisted by one of the suspects as they threatened him to hand over cash.
“This incident happened at approximately 2.30am – despite this time, I believe there may have been a number of people still out and about as Friday night was a busy night for Christmas parties and celebrations.
“If you were in the area and saw anybody acting suspiciously do get in touch as you could significantly help with our enquiries. If you were driving you may have also captured the suspects on a dash cam.”
On Monday police said the men arrested had been released on bail and enquiries were continuing.
