AT a time of year when most children are writing their Christmas lists, one little girl is only thinking of others.

Primrose Hillier, eight, became one of Wiltshire Community Foundation’s youngest fundraisers when she raised almost £60 by selling magic reindeer food at her school’s Christmas fair.

The Rowde Primary School pupil was inspired to help the appeal which provides £300 grants for elderly and vulnerable people in fuel poverty, after watching a TV documentary.

“It was about these children who came home from school and there was no heating and they had to go to beds wearing their coats because it was so cold. It was very sad,” she said.

“I decided to help by making the reindeer food. You can put it on the garden and then when Santa comes the reindeer will have something to eat because it’s hard work pulling the sleigh.”

Primrose, whose mum Nicola is grants officer at the Community Foundation, spent more than two days making 42 bags of the food, made from porridge oats and seeds, and raised £58.75. Her efforts will go towards earning her a charity badge at 1st Devizes Brownies.
