A LOCAL by-election is likely to be held for a Wiltshire Council seat after a county councillor became one of the new Conservative MPs.
Darren Henry, the Tory ward member for Till and Wylye Valley, has become the MP for Broxstowe in Nottinghamshire, beating the constituency’s former MP Anna Soubry.
Mr Henry won the seat with 26,602 votes (48.1 per cent), beating the Labour candidate Greg Marshall with 21,271 (38.5 per cent), with Anna Soubry, of the Independent Group for Change, third with 4,668 votes (8.4 per cent).
Mr Henry has been a Wiltshire councillor since May 2017. He also sits on the Amesbury area board.
Ms Soubry had been the MP for Broxtowe from 2010 to 2019.
She was first elected as a Conservative MP before leaving to join Change UK in 2019.
It is not yet known when a local by-election will take place.
