A PERSON died after being hit by a train in Corsham yesterday morning (Wednesday).
Trains that travel between Bath Spa and Chippenham railway stations were cancelled for most of the morning due to the incident.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Officers were called to the line in Corsham at 7.30am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Network Rail Western tweeted at around 8.20am: "There has been a fatality on the railway line between Chippenham Spa and Bath Spa. The train line will be shut while emergency services and our mobile operations team attend the site.
"Services from Bristol Temple Meads will go via Bristol Parkway. There will be additional stops at Swindon to pick up passengers.
"Passengers from Chippenham for London Paddington or Bath Spa/Bristol Temple Meads should take the TransWilts service from Chippenham to Swindon before changing. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to your journey."
The line re-opened at around 10am with some following delays to services between Bath and Chippenham.
