Passerby spots fire
PEOPLE in a house on Forest Road, Melksham, escaped safely after a chimney fire broke out on Saturday evening. The fire was spotted by a passerby, who banged on the door to alert the occupants while calling 999. A Trowbridge crew put out a the fire shortly before 9pm.
Cannabis warning
A WOMAN was given a cannabis street warning after police found her in possession of the drug in Cranesbill Road, Melksham, at 4.15pm on December 11. The drugs were seized.
Thieves free cattle
CATTLE were let loose after thieves broke into farm buildings at Chapmanslade overnight on December 5. Fencing was broken and removed, setting the animals free, and tractor batteries and a pressure washer were stolen.
Hare coursing
AFTER men were seen driving a dark blue Jeep Cherokee on fields at Tytherington between 1.45-2.45pm on Monday, police are treating the incident as hare coursing and are investigating.
Van seized
A BLUE Renault van seen driving on Woodcock Road,Warminster, on Friday (December 13) should not have been on the road as it was being driven with a badly worn tyre. Police seized the van and the driver has been reported for the offence.
Screen smashed
THE rear windscreen of a vehicle parked in Devonshire Place, Melksham, was smashed on December 11.
Arson attack
POLICE are investigating a suspected arson attack on 80-100 straw bales at Copse Farm, Holt, on Sunday December 15. The fire did not endanger life.
