A DILTON Marsh householder has lost two appeals against Wiltshire Council's refusal of permission for a building project.
Mrs Helen Brown, of St Mary's Lane, wanted to build a single storey rear extension with side porch on a Grade Two listed building comprising two former early 19th century cottages.
The council also refused to grant listed building consent for the proposed development.
Planning inspector, H Porter, said the scheme would be incongruous and harm the heritage asset of the building.
The inspector added: "The main issue in both appeals is the whether the proposed works and development would preserve the Grade II listed building or its setting or any features of special architectural or historic interest it possesses.
"The effect of the proposals would therefore be to diminish unacceptably the integrity of the appeal building and would cause harm."
