WILTSHIRE Police have been granted a closure order for an address in Calne in a bid to prevent drug activity.
The order, which will remain in place for three months, was granted at Swindon Magistrates Court on December 11 for the address in The Knapp.
The order was sought to help safeguard the occupant from being cuckooed by dangerous drug networks, and nearby residents from the associated crime and violence.
It means that anyone other than the resident and anyone named on the order, is prevented from entering the property – by doing so, they could be committing an offence and may be arrested.
Neighbourhood PC Steve Carroll said: “We have worked closely with the local council and housing association Green Square to obtain this order.
"This is a great example of partnership working to help protect vulnerable people within our society from those who come to our county to deal illegal drugs.
“Drug activity can lead to violent crime and the use of weapons and this can have a really negative impact on local residents and the wider community.”
If you have concerns that a neighbour, or someone in your street is involved in drug dealing or is being cuckooed, please call police on 101.
You can also report concerns anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
