A CHARITY named in memory of a little boy who died when he was knocked down by a bus outside a village school in Wiltshire was given a big boost on Saturday when shoppers turned out to support its Christmas Fair.
Niki Connor set up the Finlay Foundation after her son died aged six outside Woodborough Primary School and she was severely injured.
Now eight years on the charity is still doing all it can to help keep children safe and happy.
On Saturday Ms Connor was at the Corn Exchange, Devizes for the Christmas fair which is a regular event in her charity’s calendar.
She said: “We had a bit of a slow start because the weather was so bad but it got better as the day went on. I would like to thank everyone who took a stall and everyone who came in to buy a gift.
“All money raised goes to the charity to help children with additional needs plus provide high visibility jackets to all children.”
On display was everything from knitted toys and vintage toy cars to hand made greetings cards and jewellery.
In recent weeks the charity has handed over a bead table game to Springboard opportunity nursery in Chippenham and has also donated two race runner frames for young children to Bath Race Running Club which is run by Nova Sports Coaching and allows disabled children to cycle.
A club spokesman said: “We are now the only club to own an XXS Race Running frame. The frame is suitable for children aged between 18 months - 3 years old who have a disability which affects their mobility.
“We cannot thank The Finlay Foundation enough for opening up this activity to so many more families.”
