POLICE investigators are still at the scene of the crash on the M4 in which one person died and another was badly injured.
Highways England have put out pictures of the traffic chaos on the motorway and warned there are two miles of queuing traffic at the approach to the closure.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Four vehicles were involved.
"One person has sadly died and a second person was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
"The closure is likely to remain in place this morning so enquiries can be carried out at the scene."
Police investigators are still at the scene after the crash at around 1.30am on Sunday, December 15.
Drivers are being diverted off the M4 and are warned to expect long delays. Part of the motorway remains closed westbound after the four vehicle crash between junction 17 for Chippenham and junction 18 for Bath.
Highways England said: "There are two miles of queuing traffic on the approach to the closure."
