PRIMARY school pupils in Wiltshire are doing better than ever in a key set of national tests for 11-year-old children.
A letter from the Government's Department for Children, Schools and Families has been sent to Wiltshire County Council congratulating them on the results of this year's key stage two (KS2) tests.
This year's national results show improvement in all three core subjects, English, mathematics and science at primary level in Wiltshire.
Provisional statistics show that Wiltshire students are performing better than the national combined average for all three subjects.
Tests for KS2 are taken across England by all pupils during their final year of primary school.
Nancy Bryant, cabinet member for education, said: "I am delighted to see the improvements that have taken place in this key test for primary school children.
"This continued improvement is down to the on-going hard work and commitment of county council education staff, school staff, parents and the pupils themselves. I congratulate all of them."
