MEMBERS of the Bradford on Avon community got out their wellies and raincoats for the Lions Club's Easter bonnet competition and egg hunt on Monday morning.
Despite the wet weather, families ventured down to the Victory Fields to celebrate the Easter bank holiday with some seasonal fun and games.
Over 20 children took part in the Easter bonnet competition which saw some weird and wonderful creations and was judged by members of the club.
The winner was four-year-old Dexter Moorhouse who sported an impressive bonnet made with loo rolls, and was presented with a big chocolate egg and a certificate by the Lions Club president, Keith Yates.
The families then proceeded to line up between the Lion Clun flags before charging off to find as many tokens as they could which they could exchange for small chocolate eggs.
Brian Hersee, fun day coordinator for Bradford on Avon Lions said: "This is a great thing to do for the community, and we are very pleased with the turn out today considering the weather, we had 22 Easter bonnet entries which we judged.
"The Lions have been doing these sorts of Easter fun days for about 25 years, and were previously known as Miller Day, as they were run by then president Phillip Miller.
"There was then a bit of gap in the events, but this is now the third year we have been running the bonnet competition and the egg hunt and it has grown in popularity, we were seeing around 200 people at one point, but of course you have to consider how the weather can effect the turn out.
"Even so, people seem to have a great time."
Bradford on Avon resident Liz Newton who has been going to these Lion events since she was a child said: "I remember years ago when we were kids we had to hunt for marbles in the field.
"If you found a little marble you were given a little egg of if you found a big marble you were given a big egg, it's great fun."
