PEOPLE'S views on the mobile library service have shaped its future, Wiltshire Council says as it prepares to change routes and stopping times for the libraries which serve villages across the county.
Over 760 people replied to the authority's regular two-year consultation exercise, and the council says every effort has been made to incorporate customer suggestions and comments into the final routes, which will begin on Monday, February 12.
It feels the new routes provide an improved service to customers, particularly at busier stops, where the library will now all every fortnight, not every four weeks, and the visit times will also be extended where there is a higher usage.
Cllr John Thomson, cabinet member for libraries, said: “We have listened to our mobile library users, and have developed these new timetables with them in mind.
“We know how important the library service is to local communities, and our mobile libraries are part of this service. We also provide a home library service for customers who are physically unable to access a library or mobile service.”
To find out more about the new timetables, or our home library service, see http://services.wiltshire.gov.uk/MobileLibrary/ or pick up a printed copy of the new timetables from the mobile libraries.
There were 768 responses to the consultation, with 98.9% of customers satisfied or very satisfied with the proposed location of mobile stops, and 92.7% satisfied or very satisfied with the proposed times of the stops.
