A NEW Sergeant Major is at the helm of Warminster Garrison following a changeover on March 24.
Garrison Sergeant Major Adam Diver, who has been in the role for two years, handed over to GSM David Lent at Waterloo Lines, formerly the Land Warfare Centre.
GSM Diver said: “I’ve really enjoyed my two years as the garrison’s Sergeant Major.
“The role is all about keeping the soldiers disciplined when they’re here in Warminster and engaging with the community.
“There are around 6,000 soldiers at Waterloo Lines and it’s our duty to make sure they integrate in the community, as it’s beneficial to both them and civilians.
“In my new role, I will be in charge of training soldiers up in Yorkshire. I have a wealth of experience which I can put into that role and I’m looking forward to it.”
David Lent, who joins as Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant (RQMS) from the Yorkshire Regiment, is looking forward to the challenge.
He said: “I’m sure it will throw up a few new challenges and I’m excited to get going, I’ve learned a lot from Adam.
“I’m looking forward to getting involved in the community as much as possible.
“It’s a very big camp which needs to be run properly with discipline, values and high standards. I’m sure it’s going to be very rewarding.
“I was looking after and liaising with a lot of people in my previous role in Yorkshire, so I can bring some of that experience into this role.”
