A WOMAN who worked for Trowbridge-based charity Splitz has been murdered in Goa.
Denise Higgins, 52, was found stabbed to death at her rented bungalow in Margao, south Goa, on Friday morning.
She moved to India in October after spending 17 years as a community worker for Splitz, which helps vulnerable people in north and west Wiltshire.
Chief executive Fran Lewis said the news of Mrs Higgins' death had devastated everyone who knew her at the charity.
Mrs Lewis described her friend as passionate about her work with a bubbly personality.
"Our thoughts are with her son and daughter and we trust they will be comforted by knowing how much she was loved," she said.
Police in India have arrested 27-year-old Anand Kambli but a motive for the attack remains unclear.
