Adventurous pupils at Kingdown School are preparing for a Mount Everest expedition by taking on three of the Munros in Scotland during a five day trip starting on Sunday.

The 25 pupil-strong team from the school in Warminster will take on Everest in December.

They have spent the last few months fundraising for the testing trek through sponsorship and different activities.

The trip to Scotland will be their first together as a group and they will climb three of the Munros – Schiehallion, Ben Lawers and Ben Vrackie – over three days.

The money raised from the Everest trip, which is being sponsored by Warminster company RACS Group, will be going to Dorothy House and Children’s Hospice South West.

Nick Trimby, who is running the expedition, said: “We will be climbing three of the Munros over three days, taking on a different one on each day and walking for eight to ten hours, so it will be good preparation for Everest.

“They will be able to acclimatise to the conditions and it is also the first time they have all been away together as a group, which means it should be a good bonding experience for them all.”

RACS Group, a payroll services company which is based in Three Horseshoes Walk, has agreed to help the school’s fundraising attempts, supplying T-shirts for the expedition and paying for travel expenses during training.
