Plans to change the way services for young people are provided will be up for discussion when Westbury Area Board meets next week.
Wiltshire Council has come up with four options for the future of services for youngsters and people coming to the area board meeting next Thursday get the chance to ask questions about what any changes might mean in the community.
There will also be the chance to find out more about the recent What Matters to You event, which saw local people coming up with a range of projects and ideas on how to solve Westbury’s community issues.
The area board will be discussing the event and its results and pledging to take action. Some of the statistics outlined at the event showed Westbury faces some serious issues from high rates of childhood obesity and domestic violence through to child poverty.
Also at the meeting will be news about how the council plans to allocate social housing in the future, including information on how people are banded according to their need for homes and what factors are considered in who gets housed.
Other local issues will include an update on the community campus, a presentation on Healthwatch and news about other issues raised by local people.
The meeting in the Laverton will feature a change in the line up of the area board, as Jerry Wickham has been elected as councillor for Ethandune since the last meeting Jerry Wickham - representing the villages around Westbury.
The area board has almost £40,000 to give away in grants this year and is looking forward to welcoming applications for community projects. Grants up to £5,000 are available.
More details and an online application form are available at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/areaboards or alternatively, contact the community area manager on 01225 718627.
Anyone is welcome to come along to the area board and the meeting will start at 7pm with refreshments from 6.30pm.
