Residents in Bradford on Avon are looking forward to a peaceful early night, after disruptive late-night roadworks were scaled back.
Maintenance contractor Atkins had been working on drains on Market Street since February 10 from 6.30pm to midnight six days a week, but following complaints the work now stops at 10.30pm.
Tessa Garwood and her husband David, of Market Street, were among those complaining of the late-night disruption. She said: “We were quite pleased about the change in the time, but why has it taken all this angst? I have had to put up with the noise.
“We do appreciate the job is quite complex, but I am a bit annoyed. We have all had to go to this much trouble, and look like we are being a bit of a pain in the neck.”
Bradford on Avon South Councillor Ian Thorn joined residents for a meeting recently, and he said: “I think the residents are encouraged.”
