Volunteers in Westbury were recognised at the town’s annual civic awards at The Laverton on March 14, with Mayor David Windess presenting the awards to four locals.
Mike Pearce was awarded for his involvement with the town’s twinning organisations, The Westbury Laverton Housing Trust, Westbury Music and Arts Festival and Westbury Lions.
The awards also recognised Bill Prior, who organises the poppy appeal in Westbury for The Royal British Legion and is often seen cleaning the war memorial in Edward Street.
David Firth, five-time president of Westbury Lions, received an award for the 30 years he has spent helping to raise money for needy causes, while Katlin Simons was the first recipient of cadet of the year.
