The Winsley Support Group of the Motor Neurone Disease Association was thrilled to receive £1,000 from the Friends of Bradford on Avon Community Health Care. The group of 20 to 30 people meet once a month in Winsley Church Hall and the money will help to buy comfortable new chairs. Daphne Cox, a trained visitor co-ordinator, runs the group, which was set up 10 years ago. She said: “We were thrilled. Everyone cheered when I told them. The support group allows them to get out of the house and enables them to socialise. We have tea and cake and occasionally have a speaker. It can be reassuring to realise that MND is not a short journey for everyone and you can live a long time with it. We are trying to bring hope and enjoyment to the life people have.”
