Sunrise Festival will not be returning to Thoulstone Park Golf Course in Chapmanslade this year, after organisers announced that the annual event is moving to the Wales from May 29 to June 1.
The event was held at the disused golf course last year for the first time, after previously taking place at Gilcombe Farm, near Bruton, Somerset, for the preceding four years. It will now take place at the Chepstow Estate.
Residents in Chapmanslade raised concerns about the festival before it took place, including fears about traffic, noise and criminality, but it was given the go ahead by Wiltshire Council at a licence hearing.
The festival attracted about 7,000 people to the site and while there was some minor disorder, including thefts from tents and cautions for possession of Class A drugs, there were few complaints from residents.
Sunrise Festival, which includes music, talks and workshops, is run on a not-for-profit basis and attempts to keep alive the counter-cultural spirit of the UK free-festival movement.
