As a business owner in Bradford on Avon I feel it is imperative that the Historic Core Zone is implemented, and implemented soon. This is a significant investment that can only benefit the town’s residents, visitors and businesses. I understand the concern about the loss of the zebra, however this is more than just the loss of the one crossing point on Market Street.
It’s about a much needed investment in the entire central road system of Bradford on Avon. The objective is to make it a more pleasurable place to live, visit and work – more crossing points, better, safer access for pedestrians around the town. Most businesses want this, they want to attract more people to the town, the same people that stay away because they find it a dangerous and difficult place to move around.
The HCZ is not about traffic management, it never was and never will be. Traffic will continue to come through Bradford on Avon in ever-increasing numbers, the access and safety of pedestrians will never improve if nothing is done. Doing nothing is not an option.
