Once again elders of the Church of the Latter Day Saints were out in Trowbridge on Saturday, approaching people with their evangelical zeal. I would like to point out that the leader of this church has been summoned to appear before a UK magistrate on March 14 to answer fraud charges in relation to the tithes that the church extracts from its congregants.

I have no doubt that Thomas Monson, their leader will not bother to cross the Atlantic in order to attend. I am similarly confident that I would not be able to visit Utah to harass Mormons, in the manner which they have twice bothered me in the last month. My religious beliefs are my own affair, which I am not required to justify to badgering Americans or anyone else.

Anyone who may have encountered these individuals, who is seeking to join with others in worship, or for spiritual company, should be aware that there are other churches in Trowbridge who do not attempt to tithe their congregants’ wages.
