Royal Mail has announced changes to its postal service in Melksham, which will see some delivery times and routes changed.
Every address in the town will receive a letter about the new service, which will be introduced on a phased basis.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: “The way in which we communicate with each other has changed dramatically.
“Unfortunately, fewer letters are now posted every day and Royal Mail needs to organise its delivery routes to be as efficient as possible. We also deliver an increasing number of larger items, so we are investing in new equipment to carry these items to customers even more securely.
“The new equipment also reduces the risk of injury to our postmen and women from carrying heavier mail bags.”
Mail will still be delivered to every address in the town six days a week, with many customers still receiving their post by lunchtime.
The exact time customers receive their mail may change with the new routes, and may be later, or earlier than at present. There will be no job losses as a result of the changes.
Melksham’s new Post Office is also due to open at the former Carpet Barn store on the High Street on May 3, when it will move from its current location on Church Street.
Similar delivery changes were also announced in Warminster earlier this month.
