Trowbridge children’s charity Stepping Stones received another welcome boost when £774 was raised for it during last Thursday’s Service Excellence Awards.
During the Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce event, held at the town’s Civic Centre, its 200 guests bought raffle tickets for a chance to win an iPad Mini with the proceeds going to Stepping Stones.
The centre needs to raise £50,000 a year to survive and it is the chamber’s 2013/14 charity of the year.
Sarah Cottle, fundraising co-ordinator, said: “It is fantastic to see so many people in the town supporting us. We thank the chamber and its supporters.”
The Wiltshire Times is running the Give Us a Chance appeal, to support the charity and to cover a £10,000 Government grant withdrawn last month.
The chamber’s ototal fundraising will be given to the charity at its AGM in the Town Hall at 6pm on Wednesday.
