Bradford on Avon’s Lorry Watch is continuing its quest to stop lorries exceeding the town’s 18- tonne weight limit.
From information passed on by the volunteer group, seven prosecutions were brought to court by Wiltshire Council in February.
Driver Stephen Heckingbottom, from Mansfield, was fined £200, £75 costs, and a victim surcharge of £20, and driver Jake Phillips, from Barry, was fined £200, £75 costs, and a victim surcharge of £20.
Bale Group Ltd, from Honiton, was fined £750, £150 costs, and a victim surcharge of £75, and Generation UK, from Oldbury, was fined £633, £100 costs, and a victim surcharge of £63.
Countrywide Farmers Plc, from Evesham, was fined two lots of £650, £150 costs, and a victim surcharge of £65, Bartrams Haulage Ltd was fined £650, £100 costs and a victim surcharge of £65, and Turners (Soham) Ltd, from Newmarket, was fined £800, £100 costs and a victim surcharge of £80.
Keith Humphries, Wiltshire Council's cabinet member for public protection, said: “We hope this sends out a clear message to haulage companies and drivers that we mean business.”
