Pupils at Fitzmaurice Primary School in Bradford on Avon brightened up their non-uniform day with sunglasses and sun hats to raise money towards their school’s solar panel project.
They raised £252 towards the purchase of 40 solar panels, bringing the total raised to £4,080 – the equivalent of 10 panels.
As well as providing free electricity during the day and extra income for the school, the solar panels are proving to be a great way to teach the pupils about clean, green energy.
Richard Craft, of Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon, leads the project team and dressed as Solar Polar the bear on the day.
He said: “It is important to involve the children in the fundraising. Today was a real turning point for us. We have been teaching them about the project in assemblies, but this is the first event where they have been able to contribute.”
