Congratulations to the management of the Odeon for putting on War Horse, direct from the National Theatre. This was an a memorable and excellent performance, but equally exciting was the fact that in Trowbridge we were effectively part of the London audience. During the interval ice creams were being sold at the front of the cinema as in the National Theatre, and at the end we joined in the prolonged applause as the entire cast came back on stage. With three screens there could well have been up to 1,000 people watching this at the Odeon.
During those many years when a cinema in Trowbridge was just a dream, we little thought that one day West End theatre would also come to the town, and this surely must be the first of many such occasions.
Stanley and Monica Jones, Horse Road, Hilperton Marsh, Trowbridge.
