Eight teenagers from the TGI youth group in Bradford on Avon were given a cooking lesson by two expert chefs who run the Holiday Inn’s Pan-Asian restaurant, Sampans, in Bristol.
“Too often young people are not given experience about life beyond school, but there is nothing like actually getting your hands dirty” said Tom Vaughton, who helped organise the trip, adding: “This will give them a valuable look into the wider world.”
The group learned how to make a three course Chinese meal: prawn and sesame toast, sweet and sour chicken and puddings from fruit and cream.
“It was interesting to learn where it came from, as the chefs taught us the history of the dishes as well,” said Angus Watts, 15, from TGI.
