Former footballer Tony Gough has been nominated as Gloucestershire Seniors' Captain.
Gough has been a member of Lansdown for many years and was captain in 1989.
He is a regular first team player and, with his playing partner Robert Smith, forms a formidable foursomes pairing. Earlier in his sporting career he played football for Bath City and Hereford.
His big claim to football fame was when he captained the Hereford team which went down in FA Cup folklore when, as a non-league team, they beat the mighty Newcastle United in 1972.
Another Lansdown member Derek Godwin was nominated as vice captain of The Gloucestershire Captains Association. Godwin, who has been a member at Lansdown for 38 years and was club captain in 1979, will be the Gloucestershire captain in 2008.
