A survey has been launched to find out what training would help people who are caring for a relative or friend with dementia.
It has been put together by Alzheimer’s Support, Alzheimer’s Society and Carer Support Wiltshire, with input from Wiltshire Council, and will be used to inform the future commissioning of training for carers of people with dementia.
Catharine Hurford, Deputy CEO and Head of Operations at Carer Support Wiltshire, said: “Caring for someone with dementia is a tough and sometimes isolating experience, but training can be an enormous boost.
“It can provide unpaid carers with the information and skills to help them care better and for longer – it can also provide a welcome respite from the responsibilities of the role and support from other people in the group.”
Carer Support Wiltshire administers a multi-agency training partnership which provides free training for carers, including those looking after someone with dementia. All current opportunities can be viewed via their website at www.carersinwiltshire.co.uk
To take part in the survey online, please go to www.carersinwiltshire.co.uk/news Or you can call Carer Support Wiltshire on 0800 181 4118 to request a paper copy.
The survey closes on 20 January 2014.
