An environmental and engineering consultancy is marking 25 years in business with a move to new offices in Trowbridge at Avon Court, Castle Street.
MSA Environmental Ltd was set up in 1988 by Nigel Stevens and then joined by David Elkin, who is now the firm’s managing director. Mr Stevens is still involved with the business as a consultant. Jerad O’Pray is also a director and co-owner at MSA and he has been with the company since 2002.
The company operates exclusively in the food, drink and dairy sectors in the UK and overseas, providing solutions for effluent treatment and water re-use systems. Among its clients are Cereal Partners UK, which has a factory at Staverton in Trowbridge, Dairy Crest and Saudi Arabia-based Almarai.
MSA is currently a team of six comprising consultants and design and project engineers but expansion could see staff numbers rising in the coming few years.
Its offices were found by commercial property agent Colin Scragg, of Carter Jonas. He said: “We were able to find the right space when MSA first took offices in Trowbridge and we’re glad that over 20 years later we could help David and the team find premises that can accommodate their expansion plans.”
Originally from Canada, Mr Elkin previously worked for Express Dairies and says his lifelong involvement in the industry and his team’s specialist knowledge has been vital in shaping MSA’s success.
“Collectively our extensive experience in this sector is the main reason prestigious food companies have turned to us. We enjoy long standing relations with our clients, in some cases more than 20 years.”
MSA is working on the design of an effluent treatment and water reuse plant in Saudi Arabia for a dairy processing facility. The company has plans for more projects in the Gulf area and is actively targeting the likes of Jordan, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Carter Jonas was also involved with re-locating former Avon Court occupants Zircon software which expanded into offices in Belle-field House on Hilperton Road. Mr Scragg is also marketing premises next door to Avon Court, formerly occupied by Harpers Fabrics.
