Members of Warminster Town Council’s development committee are backing proposals for a pump track after hearing it has gained public support.

The committee discussed the request from Colin French, of the Warminster Cycle Group, for an all-weather cycle pump track in January.

It offered support, provided the group could show public interest.

The group now has 570 signatures of support, as well as quotes for costs.

Mr French said he had been in discussions with Wiltshire Council about locating the track on land adjoining the town park.

Monday’s committee meeting agreed to support the plans in principle.

Mr French said: “To get over 500 signatures just shows how much the pump track is wanted.”
