A Trowbridge man ran his first competitive race in more than 40 years at the annual Bromham Pudding Run on Sunday.
Nigel Vile, 60, who lives in Hilperton, competed in the event with his daughter, Laura Quintrell, 33, finishing the 10k course in one hour and 13 minutes.
This year, 500 people signed up to the event, in which competitors get a pudding instead of a medal, and raised £4,500 for St Nicholas Primary School, in Bromham.
Mr Vile said: “We thought it would be good for our fitness and the puddings didn’t come into it at all. It was a bit daunting when we got there because everyone, bar a few people there, were serious runners.
“The last time I ran was in 1967, when I was about 14. To suddenly go from doing nothing for 40-odd years to 10k is quite something.”
