A bikeshop in Bradford on Avon has come to the rescue of an employee at Bookers Wholesale who recently had his bike stolen.

TT Cycles, which is owned by Dick Barrow, gave the new bike to Adam Smart, who works for the Trowbridge food wholesaler, after his bike was stolen on November 16.

The bike, which was his only means of transport from his home in Westbury to work, was stolen from outside his workplace in Kennet Way on Canal Road Industrial Estate, where it was chained up.

Mr Barrow, who also runs The Lock Inn café, said: “I often use Bookers Wholesale to get our stuff for the café and one of the guys working in the butchery told me about what had happened.

“I asked my son Mark, who is the manager of the bike shop, to see what we could do and we managed to find a demo bike which we were able to give to Adam.

“I always see Adam about when I go to Bookers and he is always workings hard. His bike was his only means of getting to work and it seemed to be an injustice for him to lose that.

“He is a nice guy and didn’t want to make too much of a fuss, but hopefully the new bike will make his life easier and ease the pain of having his bike stolen.”
