Warminster Town Council’s town development committee continued to show support for proposals put forward for a pump track in the town at a meeting on Monday.
The committee originally discussed the request from Colin French, of the Warminster Cycle Group, to build an all-weather cycle pump track at a meeting in January this year.
The project was supported by the committee in principle, provided the cycle group could demonstrate sufficient public interest.
Mr French advised the committee on Monday that the group had now obtained 570 signatures from members of the public in support of the project, while he also had quotations from builders for the cost of the work.
He added that he had been involved in discussions with Wiltshire Council about the possibility of locating the pump track on the piece of land adjoining the town park and they indicated interest in taking it forward.
The committee was pleased to see the public interest in this project and agreed to continue to give it their support in principle.
The next steps will be to negotiate with the landowners to identify and confirm a suitable location for the pump track, and to draw up a full set of costings.
