Melksham's top youth talent was honoured at the town’s second youth awards ceremony on Wednesday.

Ten awards were presented to children, teens and youth groups in and around the town, in recognition of their achievements in art, sport and volunteering.

Jack Oatley, 17, picked up the volunteering award, and the chairman’s award for outstanding contribution to Melksham for his work with the Canberra Youth Centre, Forest Community Centre, and Youth Advisory Group.

He said: “There were a lot of amazing people there. I was grateful, but I felt like what I do is nothing compared to what others do.

“For a little town like Melksham there are a lot of young people doing amazing things that not a lot of people know about.”
