The Shires Shopping Centre in Trowbridge has joined the Salvation Army’s Toy Appeal by creating a drop-off point in its management suite.
There are now six drop-off points for people to donate toys to help Trowbridge families in need this Christmas.
In Trowbridge people can visit Tesco Extra in County Way, The Salvation Army in Castle Street and The Wiltshire Times, Duke Street. There are also drop-off points at Sainsbury’s in Melksham and Bradford on Avon.
Shires centre manager Sarah-Louise Moore said: “This is the first year we have joined the appeal. We are always happy to give our support to charitable causes.
“People in Trowbridge are renowned for their generosity and I hope in a small way we can make Christmas a bit happier for those that are less fortunate than ourselves.”
Donations, ranging from toys and games to books in new and in good condition, for girls and boys up to 16 years old, can be dropped off at the management suite behind Boswells Cafe in The Shires.
The Wiltshire Times has teamed up with the Salvation Army for the appeal and our drop off already has 15 bags of toys.
Major Kelvin Lang, of the Trowbridge Salvation Army, said: “We are pleased to have another drop-off point and hope people will continue to donate. We have got a few things for younger children, but it’s always harder to get gifts for teenagers so these would be very welcome too.”
The donations will be collected from the drop-off points the week before Christmas and will be sorted into age and gender, ready for collection by social services.
