Warminster Area Board has part-funded a Year 6 Family Learning Healthy Eating Project for school children in and around Warminster.
The board thought that by the age of 10 or 11, children were starting to make their own decisions and it was a key age to equip them with an understanding of nutrition and healthy choices.
Parents were also invited to take part, so they could reinforce the message at home.
So far, The Minster, St John’s, Princecroft and Wylye Valley School have taken part.
Catherine Maxwell, from Anybody Can Cook, ran the event. Session one focused on nutrition, how food is labelled and marketed.
Youngsters looked at the ingredients and weighed out the sugar content in products, to actually see how much was in a yoghurt, for example, marketed as a healthy choice.
Session two was on making healthy pizza.
