Melksham Town Council has approved a £700 fee for the town to enter into partnership with Visit Wiltshire.
The agreement will see Melksham receive advertising space in Visit Wiltshire’s publications and on its website, as well as promotion for events in the town.
On Monday, the council’s town development committee agreed to consult with Melksham Without Parish Council, with the intention of splitting the cost of tourism partnership.
However, if no agreement can be reached, the council will pay the full amount itself, but that would mean only the town, and not the surrounding areas, would receive the publicity.
